Now is the time when seasonal allergies, colds, asthma flare-ups, and respiratory infections tend to rear their heads. Although temperatures tend to fluctuate wildly this time of year, many of us are now heading back outside. So now is the perfect time to think about illness prevention and management.
Prevention and protection are two of the cornerstones of what we do. And you don’t have to come into one of our health centers to benefit from public health services. If you feel comfortable eating a meal in a restaurant, that’s public health at work. If you have access to safe water to drink, that’s public health at work. If you have sidewalks for safe travel in your neighborhood, that’s public health at work. And the list goes on and on.

Prevention of disease or disaster isn’t dramatic enough for headlines, but it’s the reason you are safe today. Public health is a safety net operating in the background, ensuring that communities remain safe, healthy, and resilient. The result is improved quality and quantity of life.
