Tick Time

As the temperatures begin to increase across the region, so does the tick population. The peak transmission period in Kentucky is May through July; however, ticks are active any time the weather is warm and humid. The most common species in our area are the Lone Star Tick and the American Dog Tick, and they are most prevalent in areas with tall grass, woods, or brush.

The Heat Is On

Temperatures have been steadily rising in our area lately. Exposure to extreme heat can be a dangerous weather-related hazard. The body struggles to regulate internal temperature during periods of extreme heat, placing stress on your brain, heart and kidneys. The consequences can range from dehydration to a life-threatening emergency like heatstroke.
