Public Health Guardians

Success in public health often looks like nothing happens, and that’s the goal. Public health professionals are working behind the scenes every day to protect the health of our communities and the people that we serve. Conducting safety inspections, investigating the causes of disease, connecting people to resources—that’s public health. Lincoln Trail District Health Department’s mission is rooted in prevention, promotion, and protection, and that work touches daily life across the district in ways many people never see.
Prevention and protection are two of the cornerstones of what we do. And you don’t have to come into one of our health centers to benefit from public health services. If you feel comfortable eating a meal in a restaurant, that’s public health at work. If you have access to safe water to drink, that’s public health at work. If you have sidewalks for safe travel in your neighborhood, that’s public health at work. And the list goes on and on.
Prevention of disease or disaster isn’t dramatic enough for headlines, but it’s the reason you are safe today. Public health is a safety net operating in the background, ensuring that communities remain safe, healthy, and resilient. The result is improved quality and quantity of life.
