Boost Your Immunity
Explore a list of things you can do to stay healthy this season.
Respiratory virus season is almost upon us. Did you know that there are seven simple things that you can do to boost your immunity? No expensive pills or fancy supplements needed. You can strengthen your immune system naturally by adopting these daily habits:
- Eat a balanced diet focused on whole foods such as fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains to provide nutrients such as vitamin C, vitamin D, and zinc.
- Get 7-8 hours of quality sleep each night to give your body time to produce infection-fighting cells and antibodies.
- Engage in regular moderate physical activity such as walking, cycling, or swimming to improve circulation and movement of immune cells.
- Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and to flush the body of toxins and unwanted bacteria.
- Lower your stress levels through deep breathing, meditation, or walking, as chronic stress can weaken your immunity.
- Stay up to date on recommended vaccines to teach your immune system to recognize and fight dangerous germs.
- Drink alcohol in moderation and avoid smoking, as both habits affect your body’s ability to fight off infections over time.
